MKT 455 Course Recap
One of the most interesting things I learned over the past eight weeks about social media marketing campaigns is that they are most effective when they have a defined target audience, clear objectives of what needs to be accomplished, and multiple strategies or tactics so the brand can pivot and adjust as needed. All of this requires a lot of listening and planning. I would sum it up as intentional effort. Without that, marketing efforts can come across as bland, boring, and lazy. Customers appreciate being met where they are at with messages that are tailored to their unique preferences. A generic and one-size-fits-all approach ends up fitting very little to no one. The more value a brand can provide via cool content, the more followers it will attract and be able to engage with.
To be perfectly honest I didn't care for the blogs on some level. At least this one. In the moment, it feels like a redundant chore. I'm a very sensitive person and don't like delving into my feelings over and over again for my peers to read. I still feel the same as last week... just ready to be done. However, I just looked back at all the previous blogs I've written to see if I am being too harsh, and I do feel that there are some things I enjoyed about them as well. They were a nice reprieve amongst the chaos of school to consider my progress and current position. They also provided me with an opportunity to experience what it's like having a blog, which is something I've always wondered about but never really pursued consistently. After completing this class and then finally receiving my degree, I will have so much more free time to put towards building my brand. That will include writing posts and maintaining a blog, but with prompts and ideas that personally inspire me. There won't be the pressure of being graded against an academic rubric, but I still appreciate that I learned from one in order to effectively communicate my ideas to an audience.
So overall, I guess I really did enjoy the blogs because although they were a bit repetitive like brushing your teeth or cleaning your room, at least they were an interesting exercise of the mind that was open ended enough to be a bit creative.
